A Western Maternity Session at Mormon Row in Grand Teton National Park
When Lorin and Shane planned their babymoon to Jackson Hole, they knew they wanted to document this season of life with a maternity session in Grand Teton National Park. Their session was actually the very first thing they did after arriving in Jackson Hole, which ended up being a very good thing because their trip did not exactly start without a little adventure.
Lorin’s checked bag was lost during their travels, but thankfully, she had thought ahead and packed their session outfits in their carry-on luggage. Crisis avoided, all she had to do was run to Target to pick up some new shoes. After arriving in Jackson Hole, they headed straight into the mountains to celebrate the upcoming arrival of their first baby boy.
They had their hearts set on Mormon Row and Grand Teton National Park before they even booked their session. Because it was November, I made sure they knew that early snow could potentially impact access to Mormon Row. Luckily, that was not the case. Instead, we were greeted with snow-free roads and unseasonably warm weather, which made for a pretty perfect fall afternoon in the Tetons.
Lorin wore a beautiful cream knit dress, while Shane paired jeans with a wine-colored button-down and his grandfather’s cowboy hat. The hat was more than just the perfect finishing touch for their western-inspired maternity session. Their baby boy is being named after Shane’s grandfather, making it a meaningful way to include him in these photos.
As the evening went on, the session only became more romantic. Mormon Row gave us the western scenery they were hoping for, but the sunset at the end was truly the perfect finale. With wide-open views of the Tetons stretching behind them, Lorin and Shane were able to slow down and soak in this season before becoming parents.

November can be unpredictable, which is why planning ahead and being familiar with the park, weather, and location access is so important.
